Understanding Car/Auto Insurance

New Britain, CT (PRWeb) January 29, 2007 -- While not all state's may follow a set of regulations completely, there is several points to think about a motorist's real need for up to date car/auto insurance.

Near total financial loss is faced even if the drivers can claim never being involved in an accident.

Not even the minimum amount required by most insurance companies (depending on the state) for injury or death, and property damage can help save the motorist from devastating financial loss.

Some might think the coverage for both an uninsured, underinsured motorist only protects the person at fault in an accident. Not so, as the extra option of underinsured motorist coverage can add to the amount of the at-fault driver's coverage. That amount can pay the difference between the maximum coverage the at-fault driver has against the underinsured coverage of the policyholder.

The motorist might not know that collision coverage will not pay if a tree limb causes damage to their vehicle. The policyholder must also have additional coverage for reimbursement of a rental car.

No damage by vandalism, weather conditions or animal accidents is covered without some type of comprehensive policy. Often a loan will not be done if the interested purchaser does not comply with these requirements of most financial institutions.

Just because the motorist has made a recent payment on their policy does not mean a newly bought vehicle is covered. A call ahead to the insurance agent will then satisfy the coverage needs of the car owner.
